L'Artisan du Liban (ADL), is a social enterprise that aims at preserving Lebanese handicrafts and cultural heritage. They approached me to design a 7-piece collection of slippers & leather goods (bags, wallets & belts).
I chose to work with the traditional striped sayeh fabrics that I combined with leather to create a collection of 7 iconic pieces. The collection is available on their WEBSHOP.
I can't tell you how pleased I was when Roula Haidar, general manager of ADL and Cécile Farah, production manager approached me earlier this year asking for a collaboration! Growing up, I remember my mother taking us shopping to Artisan Du Liban before every trip back to Montreal where we lived for 5 years . ADL is actually one of the Lebanese's diaspora's favorite destination before going back home from their vacation. It's an amazing one-stop shop where you are sure to find soulful souvenirs to the people you would like to please back home (friends, school teachers, diner hosts etc.)
[About l'Artisan Du Liban] Excerpt from their Facebook about section.
With more than 800 men and women from all Lebanese regions working to revive and propagate disappearing crafts, L’artisan Du Liban has been the primary and sometimes the only commercial outlet to their creations for more than 41 years.
